How we can help
We offer specialized care for dizziness and balance disorders. These disorders, including vertigo or benign paroxysmal
positional vertigo (BPPV) and vestibular problems are common among adults. They also have many possible causes, including
inner-ear problems, diseases, low blood pressure, stroke, head injury, brain tumor and drug side effects.
At Advantage Physical Therapy, we can help. We offer comprehensive hands-on biomechanical assessment, physical therapy
treatment and complete balance and fall prevention training.
The inner ear contains three semicircular canals that contribute to our sense of balance. Over time, debris can break
off and accumulate in these canals. Moving your head in certain directions can cause this debris to tug on hairlike
sensors. This can trigger BPPV.
People who suffer from balance disorders may experience symptoms including:
- Sensations of dizziness or vertigo
- Falling or the sensation of falling
- Lightheadedness or faintness
- Unsteadiness
- Difficulty with reading or vision
- Disorientation
- Nausea & vomiting
- Fear, anxiety & panic
- Changes in heart rate & blood pressure
- Headache
We use several positioning procedures to treat BPPV, including the Epley maneuver, also known as canalith repositioning
procedure (CRP), and Semont’s liberatory procedure. Our skilled and experienced balance and vestibular rehab specialists are
respected as some of the best in the Pacific Northwest. We use special exercise programs to reduce or eliminate dizziness,
improve balance, decrease fall risk and increase activity levels.
At Advantage Physical Therapy, we have had great success with our comprehensive, specialized hands-on treatments and
compassionate patient care. |
